Take back the Senate
We will have an immediate opportunity to elect 1, maybe 2 US Sentators depending on Rubio's confirmation.
Ohio and Florida. Then, 7 seats that are either toss up,
Maine/ Collins
or currently likely Republican.
AK/Sullivan
IA/Ernst
KS/Marshall
KY/McConnell
NC/Tillis
TX/Cornyn
We would need all Democrats up for re-election to retain their seats while achieving a net gain of
4 seats. This is our best chance of stopping or at the very least slowing down the new administration.
Ironically, most of these Senators are weakened by virtue of the fact they have in the past worked with Democrats or expressed a willingness to work with Democrats. Unfortunately, for them, unless they change parties, we need their seats.
Second, we need to take back the house. This may present a bigger challenge since the reps are so well imbeded in their smaller concentrated districts. This is doable.
The following tag shows the projected map for the 2026 Senate race.

(8,862 posts)bill for one thing. If we can't even come up with that, I think we need to primary those failing us.

(19,023 posts)We have a much better chance at retaking the house than the senate, but I agree, the Dems should target those seats you mentioned. Tillis and Collins are probably the most vulnerable, and McConnell’s seat could go blue if Beshear runs for it.
