Special counsel Jack Smith has completed his work on two criminal investigations of President-elect Donald Trump and resigned Friday from the Justice Department.
Word of Smiths departure came in a court filing Justice Department officials submitted to U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon Saturday afternoon, urging her not to extend a court order she issued last week blocking release of Smiths final report, which was submitted to department leaders on Tuesday.
Justice Department officials say Cannons order overstepped her authority and that she has no power to block Attorney General Merrick Garland from releasing Smiths findings.

#2 release might be monkey wrenched by Trump's DOJ, although he doesn't care about saving underlings.

So who really thinks Garland will release it? Garland playing games to the end.

(9,770 posts)13. we all saw his crimes via photos of the classified docs.
We saw him do all this in the open. We saw him speak on January 6. We heard the phone call to the Georgia secy of state. And the countless boxes of classified documents - that he stole.
Don't let him make us insane. That is what is happening.
