Life is precious and it can't be replaced but I still feel heartsick for those who lost everything, especially the sentimental things.
I saw a musician and his wife on TV a bit ago. The wife is pregnant and is due in a couple of weeks. They lost their home, he lost all of his musical instruments.
I think it's up to 10,000 structures now. Destroyed.

(162,406 posts)back in the 80's I came home from working the night shift and my apartment building had burned to the ground - I was young, and it was a furnished apartment so I didn't lose much but it truly sucks to lose your home.....my cat got out when firemen kicked the door in and I found him a couple days later (he was OK)
Apartment complex fire. Some moron put the couch against the electric heater. Top floor. The fire didn't do much, but the water damage since it was the top floor burning trash everything below it. I was one of the few places with neither significant water or fire damage.

We keep our vital records in a fire proof safe, but I look around this home that I've lived in for 35 years and there are so many sentimental treasures.
