Our justice system, in theory, relies on citizen participation. There could be a revolt there. During questioning of potential jurors more people may say if it involves a rich or influential person, I’m out because it’s useless.

Although, the last time I was called for jury duty, I specifically made it clear on the juror questionaire that I would not be able to render an impartial verdict in any sexual assault or child endangerment case, I was actually pooled for a sexual assault case. I was excused for other reasons, but I could not believe the defense attorneys let me get that far.

Being personally attacked because you are willing to serve on a "jury of peers" is a bridge too far.

It seems obvious that for certain creatures there is no karma nor punitive consequence. They endure. Indeed, they flourish.

You can come up with endless excuses not to show, and if you must show up, you can make it plain in voir dire that you are unsuitable for this jury.

When told "no one is above the law" many people were skeptical. Now they they know for certain that they had every right to be skeptical. Rule of law is one of the cornerstones of our democracy. It just took a giant hit.
