Mexican President Trolls Trump by Suggesting Renaming the U.S 'Amrica Mexicana'

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded in the best way to Trump's announcement that he would be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, by showing reporters a large 17th century map of North America labeled "América Mexicana."

"Mexican America, that sounds nice," Sheinbaum said, trolling Trump's claim over the sweet sound of the term Gulf of America.

Mexican Minister of Culture Jose Alfonso Suarez del Real also backed the idea, adding, "The fact is that Mexican America is recognized since the 17th century...as the name for the whole northern part of the continent."

Suarez del Real emphasized that the name Gulf of Mexico similarly has been an internationally recognized name for the Gulf for hundreds of years and is widely used for navigational purposes.
