makes me want to retch. That is all.

(123,555 posts)I couldn't do it, but Obama has been in the business for quite awhile, and he's had to put up with Trump many times. He could handle it for another hour or two.

(313 posts)It's like Chamberlain sharing jokes with Hitler. It's bullshit. Trump shouldn't have been allowed within 100 miles of the funeral. What the hell is a felon doing there, especially one who's a sexual deviant and traitor? Obama acting "normal" in this context is totally abnormal and revolting.

(18,211 posts)I'm sure he doesn't want Trump's last memory of him to be a situation in which he antagonized Orange Dump to his face.

(604 posts)Its the funeral of a president & all formers are part of the ceremony whether its irritating or not
Obama wouldve been the one who looked bad
And believe me, I'll bet you can go to twitter & find a LOT of MAGAts going NUTS over trump even speaking with him.

(5,358 posts)He was the only person the menace was interacting with, graciously allowing the others to ignore (one might even say snub) the idiot. Barack is charming and sharp as a tack, more than capable of handling it.

(59,170 posts)had to sit next to the stinky one. Sometimes you have to take one for the team.
It's obvious to me that the orange turd insists on being included and present in the former presidents/first Ladies club whenever they convene on these solemn, national events.

(25,190 posts)They did not look chummy to me.
I wondered what they were talking about. Could have been anything, but Obama looked civil and serious to me, not buddy-buddy.
Where was Michele? I wonder if that's what Obama and Trump were talking about.

(25,190 posts)I just saw them talking. Trump kept leaning back to say something to Obama. Obama leaned forward a little to listen. A couple times it looked like Obama leaned forward farther to say something else or ask a question maybe. Didn't see any smiles.
But, who knows. Maybe Obama was smiling on the surface and laughing inside at something stupid. Maybe Trump complained about Obama's innuendo at the Dem Convention about Trump's "crowd" size and Obama was smiling to know that he succeeded in getting under Trump's skin.

(21,261 posts)I think Obama got the short straw because Michelle is not with him today. Being gracious is what adults do, putting your wife on the end seat, not so much.

I'm sick of all the bullshit.
It's just politics.
Their being civil.
Their taking the high road.
If trump was as dangerous as Hitler before he was elected what has changed ???
Fucking nothing except now he is even more dangerous.
It is as if no one in power has a clue about the damage trump has done and will do to this country, it's people, and the world.

(4,815 posts)demonstrate a certain degree of civility and decorum in a setting to honour a man such as Jimmy Carter,
but still I'd file it under one of those unimaginable loathsome sights that, once seen, cannot be UNSEEN. So (imo) best you not look if you haven't.
Trump is the ANTITHESIS of all that men like Carter and Obama hold dear. So sitting next to this cretin must have been unbearable.
I personally wouldn't want to be in the same vicinity as TSF.

(2,843 posts)Nationally televised state funerals not really the place for moments of truth, other than the glaring truth of the flag-draped coffin of the beloved President.
Pres. Obama appeared to deal gracefully with Trump, who at some point finally cooled it with the chatter. The literal juxtaposition of those 2 men speaks volumes.
I certainly did feel for Barack Obama, though.
