(1,350 posts)I think she is the justice in charge of taking appeals from the NY area which means she will decide if Rump's case makes it to the Supreme Court.

(107,169 posts)And, I'd ask that none of us get ahead of ourselves. If SCOTUS followed 249 years of principles and precedence, they would refuse without comment or at least deny immediately. But, this is a corrupted version of a SCOTUS--no better than that which decided Dred Scott v Sanford.. or Plessy v Ferguson...Bush v Gore...Citizens United v FEC...Trump v United States (immunity)...
We shall see... but don't take it for granted that the law actually matters to the six MAGATs on that court.

The filing came one day after Trump asked the justices to block the sentencing. Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who handles emergency appeals from New York, instructed the state to respond to Trumps request by 10 a.m. on Thursday, signaling that the court is likely to act quickly.
