Social media troll arrested for spraying bug killer on fruits and vegetables at Walmart

Charles Smith, who boasted about making up to $10,000 monthly from his antisocial "pranks," filmed himself spraying Hot Shot Ultra Bed Bug and Flea Killer on produce including potatoes, lemons, apples, and tomatoes. The 27-year-old self-described "troll" – who apparently thought potentially poisoning unsuspecting shoppers would make for entertaining content – shared the criminal act with his 350,000 TikTok followers, where he goes by the username @WolfieKhaletti.

Jeebus. One can make $100,000 per year for posting harmful crap on social media.

We're totally f'd.

My take? At the top of the list, the most defining value of how we humans relate to others is peer pressure.

In the past, before social media, what would be considered by most to be outlandish behaviour was tamed in part by the local community to which one belonged, meaning it was confined to a relatively small geographic circle. Today? Not the case. Anyone going against the former social norms can find an online group that ID's with them, so they get immediate validation.

All to say, we're f'd.

Wal-Mart likely had a dozen cameras on him and already knew his face the moment he walked in

Seriously. Or maybe, if they can't, monetize accounts that will punch this fuck in the face many times over. Same difference, right? And I don't mean just a little slap, I'm talking full on hockey goon beating.

Fuck this idiot and the entire social media influencer experiment.

Useless wastes of flesh and bandwidth.

What the hell are you thinking? You want to be like the Boogaloo boys killing Rangers, and like the sniper killing abortion doctors? Are you going to administer the first beat-down? Or you prefer to monetize goons to do your dirty work you are afraid to do?

tRump WANTS violence so he can crack down and be the strongman who saves 'murica and makes it great again. Project 2025 wants violence so that the clampdown can really get going. Have you forgotten how much Fox played up the George Floyd protests and claimed Democrats were burning down US cities.

Don't give them what they want!

I can predict 100% of the time whether people are popular just by how obnoxious aggressive, offensive, & blatantly stupid they are.

I'm not joking.

We have both marveled over this fact for years.

Yup we are well & truly fucked.

Name who represents Charmin? Who says “don’t squeeze the Charmin”? What company has an “influencer” who is a gecko?

If you can answer, then you know what a successful branding campaign is about.

Social media influencers have as much lasting effect as Cabbage Patch Kids—wildly popular for one season then relegated to obscurity and collector clubs and cults.

Companies that pay “influencers” are too stupid to realize successful commercial “influencers” are created by millions in advertising by companies themselves. Companies pay to create their media star spokesmen, women, and animals.

Nowhere did anyone see Flo on a street corner with a sign saying “will represent your insurance company for food”. The influence from Flo was bought and paid for by Progressive Insurance Company, she’s not a homegrown or viral entity bringing her fame to an insurance company.

But I don’t need to tell that to anyone here on DU.
