The Hill: Ford to donate $1M, fleet of vehicles to Trump inauguration

The Hill - Ford to donate $1M, fleet of vehicles to Trump inauguration

by Sarah Fortinsky - 12/23/24 7:09 PM ET

Ford Motor Company said it will donate $1 million and a small fleet of vehicles for use in President-elect Trump’s inauguration, multiple outlets reported Monday.

Ford joins a recent wave of major tech companies that have pledged hefty donations to the incoming president’s inaugural fund.

While inaugural donations from companies are not new, the flood of cash — coupled with meetings with Trump at his Florida residence — signal a shift among companies looking to curry favor with the president as he prepares to take office.

Meta and Amazon each dished out $1 million donations to Trump’s inaugural fund last week, followed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who said he would give the same amount from his personal wealth.

The move marked a shift for Altman, who has repeatedly donated to Democratic candidates since 2013.

Henry Ford published a newspaper out of his own povket which was a hate-filled diatribe against Jews. He published it out of his own pocket because he said that he wanted to be free of advertising influence over what he said.

His European branches used Jewish slave labor.

How pathetic. Dems will never ask for retribution so they have nothing to worry about by making us mad.

Not that I felt that bad, I did my homework and wanted the best value in an EV after my Prius and Chevy Volt.

As in you shouldn’t feel less bad. Musk has donated WAY more than Ford, and your purchase supported Musk. So I don’t get where “less bad” would come in.

because at the time they made the purchase (which wasn't noted) they thought perhaps it would be best for, say, the environment?

For the record, I don't feel bad at all about the purchase.

I did my homework and drove several EVs over the past decade and bought what was/is the best product and best value for my budget and needs.

Happy Christmas!

People are quick to blame businesses - but they have to deal with the cards as they are. If the SCOTUS had sided with Colorado, we wouldn't have this problem. If the Republican senators had just an eensy weensy spine, we would not be burdoned by Trump. So many people in the judiciary and politics FAILED us. They dumped a huge quantity of shit in our front yards. Everybody who isn't a fool knows it's shit and it's a LOT of shit. Pointing at it an yelling shit is an empty exercise.

And everyone knows King Donnie is pay-for-access and pay-for-play... Every relationship in his life is 100% transactional, "What's in it for ME?" like the low-rent wannabe mob boss that he is... So any corporation that isn't already in line to curry favor with our benevolent dictator will get left out in the cold.

And FoMoCo knows that Donnie isn't above getting his toadies in Congress to pass legislation specifically tailored to hurt Detroit automakers... Doesn't even matter how many strings they just pulled to make Michigan turn red for Donnie last month... So this should surprise nobody.

The boat has sailed and we all have to deal with this some way. I own a business and have to work with Trumper clients sometimes. If I excluded such people, I'd cut my profits in 1/2. I seldom express my views to such people and in the rare cases they're desperate to discuss, I respond with humorous sarcasm. Mostly, I just put my head down and
get the work completed. There have been some clients though, whose beliefs were so awful, I avoided and "quiet quit."
I hope people come to their senses but I won't bet the farm on it.

One of his many admirers was Hitler himself, and according to one account the Führer once indicated his desire to help “Heinrich Ford” become “the leader of the growing Fascist movement in America.”

I was told that "Ford" stood for "Found On Road Dead." Never favored Ford. I like Toyotas. I am currently looking quietly and steadily for a Pontiac Vibe. I have a Camry. The things that fail on Camrys are electric windows and the paint job.

Now it's 100% normalized... Everyone is paying tribute to the Mafia don lest he damn them to bankruptcy with one angry all-caps tweet 🙄

If Trump was a Dem, Congressional Republicans would already have the investigative hearings at the top of their agenda in January.
