dirtbag Amazon hits strikers with water in 19 degee weather

"It was extraordinarily cruel. Is anyone surprised that the company headed by the man who's having a $600 million wedding is turning a stream on the people who work under inhumane conditions in his trucks and warehouses? " (from crooksandliars)

Bull Connor turned high pressure fire hoses and attack dogs on hundreds in the early 60s.

I suspect that, like most progressive sites, they're trying hard to stay afloat. There's a big ad asking for subscription support at the time of the page.

The important thing to say here is "Nobody wants to work anymore" and after Trump is inaugurated say "Foreigners are stealing your jobs".

Uncle Remus speaks perfectly to today’s climate of wealth inequality. Zappa was prophetic in many of his tunes and writings. Man, would love to have him around right now for his insights. He’s sorely missed.

It's a great song, off such a great album.

The lyrics of "Uncle Remus" have been said to reflect Zappa's thoughts regarding racial tensions in the United States, including the civil rights movement and civil rights work that has not been done. It has also been described as an extension of Zappa's feelings on racism featured on his earlier song "Trouble Every Day". The lyrics, "Just keep your nose, to the grindstone they say. Will that redeem us, Uncle Remus", questions whether despite their best efforts, if racial equality can ever be achieved. Author Ben Watson called the song "a gentle reprimand, noting how protest was being abandoned for fashion", citing Zappa's mention of growing a "'fro", along with water from fire hoses used in protests having the potential to harm "sharp" clothes. The song's lyrics also refer to lawn jockeys, statuettes that often depicted black figures with exaggerated features. Zappa sings about targeting jockeys on the lawns of "rich people" as a form of protest in Beverly Hills, suggesting a connection between class and race.

18. Do you have any reputable sources that this was a deliberate act by the company?

I didn't find any remotely mainstream news source even reporting on this, even local news media. Admittedly I only tried a few search variations on Google News but I am usually quite good at finding local reporting on newsworthy events, via this method.

I did find this one which at least includes different views of the event in its reporting.

I don't doubt that a Bezos-run company can be guilty of some quite anti-worker acts. But let's not be gullible here. There's lots or ways and reasons that could be behind the flooding event. If it even happened (which I am leaning towards "something like this happened" ). What I see as a bigger story - at the moment, at least - is that NO ONE IS REPORTING about it in the local press, or anything we could even remotely consider neutral.
