The Democratic Party has finally hit on an attack tactic which has found its target with Trump, a CNN analyst reported Monday.
The gambit, a welcome opening for a party that struggled to fashion a convincing message in the election and that has been flailing ever since, seems to have worked," wrote Stephen Collinson.
The strategy used by multiple Democrats over the past weekend is to take aim at the president-elects sense of security by suggesting his ally, Elon Musk, is really pulling the strings in his administration.
They are trying to tweak Trumps vanity, mockingly suggesting that even after winning a second term, he is still not as powerful as the South Africa-born tech mogul whom he put in charge of slashing the size of government once the president-elect takes office, Collinson wrote.
The scheme saw several Democratic Party representatives on the weekend TV shows, suggesting that Musks tweets on the spending deal which many say killed the first bill proposed by Speaker Mike Johnson showed who was really wielding power.

(289 posts)All the way back to his first campaign, that should have been the strategy. When you look at Trump and understand that the narcissism isn't just an undesirable personality trait for him, it rises to the level of a pathology. It is a mental condition, a full blown psychological disorder. He is incapable of not responding to ridicule, it is as necessary for him to respond to it as it is for him to breath.
The Mayo Clinic's description of Narcissistic Personality Disorder:
https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/narcissistic-personality-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20366662
Look through that list of symptoms and tell me Trump isn't the poster child for NPD!!!
When viewed through that lens, the strategy to deal with him becomes obvious. Flattery from within his circle to manipulate him towards positive outcomes and ridiculing him from outside his circle to push him into wasting his time on relatively unimportant things and into making poor decisions and unforced errors on important issues.

(3,386 posts)still photos, how many show Musk physically in front of *him*. Once *he* figures that Musk could be stealing the limelight on purpose, the umbilical cord may start splitting off. Just wish it could happen before Musk does more harm.

(186 posts)Everyone in the media,politicians,etc..find it so hard to attack him. I have said from the beginning or in 2016 that he is blackmailing some of these people and /or family members.
I watched people I couldn't believe fall in line.

(186 posts)Don't seem to want to connect the dots when it comes to Helsinki and no one else was in the room.
Muller report, classified info all over the place,in the bathroom, ballroom, basement at Mar a lago.
Video showing him transferring boxes from place to place and Putin and others making all of these moves as though they are testing or baiting USA.
No way are these things not connected.

So, "President Musk" or "President Elon" is just fine.
If we do it often enough, maybe Chief Justice Roberts will slip up when he swears the Moron in on Jan. 20!

We simply will not be inconvenienced.

(67 posts)They just figured this out. Not a political consultant but from the jump when he announced I would would have labeled him as a loser. He talks so much about winning, but the fact is he is a loser. I would reminded him that he lost an election and lost many key political battles. In my view he's a loser and a pu**sy.
