Question: "You're going to be at the inauguration?"

Question: “You’re going to be at the inauguration?”

President Biden: “Of course I am. The only president ever to avoid an inauguration is the guy about to be inaugurated.”

I would expect nothing else from this decent man who gave his adult life to serve this country.
Haven’t always agreed with some decisions but I hold him in high regard and gratitude 💙

2. Seven Presidents have not attended their successor's inauguration . . .

As it turns out, presidential absences on Inauguration Day have been more frequent than might be expected. Five outgoing presidents – John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Martin Van Buren, Andrew Johnson, and Donald Trump – failed to attend the Inaugurations of their successors, while two more presidents – Woodrow Wilson and Richard Nixon – did not participate for other reasons. More than three dozen presidential transitions have taken place since the founding of the republic, which makes notable these seven instances of absent incumbents. Taken together, they reveal how inaugural no-shows are in fact a recurring feature of American politics.

Every president physically able since Johnson have attended. About 175 years. Worth of history. Since the days of horse and buggy…….

Trump is the only one who did not attend….do we really want him to become the new norm. I do not.

I'm happy for Ben and MeidasTouch. I hope other elected Democrats are paying attention. Our past and current media strategy IS NOT FUCKING WORKING!!!!!

Now as far as the substance of the questions and answers - I'm not sure how I feel about Biden's response. On one hand, he's right. We have to try to get things back to normal and stop being "childish," but I don't know. It just doesn't feel right to normalize trump. We're still stuck in that mindset of putting lipstick on a pig when everyone in the world sees through that bullshit now. The emperor's clothes are off -- we allowed an insurrectionist to go back to the White House--there were no consequences for him. I truly believe trump is a threat and I think there's a good chance that a lot of us won't be around in 4 years as a direct result of trump's criminal negligence and incompetence.
