Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) spoke out against Tesla CEO Elon Musks involvement in governmental affairs, saying the tech billionaire is horning his way into decisions.
I was with a few Republicans yesterday as Musk was rage-tweeting and giving his orders, and they were completely apoplectic, Swalwell said on MSNBC on Thursday night. And I told one of them, I said, If you let him do this, if he does this and you dont stand up to him now, he is going to own you for the next Congress.'
Every bill that is on the floor, youre going to wait around on cots to see what Elon Musk says you are allowed to do. And that is no way to represent the people who sent you, he continued.
Musk, whom Trump tapped to be the co-leader of his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), made several social media posts Wednesday criticizing the spending measure deal unveiled by House Republicans this week. He called the more than 1,500-page measure a big piece of pork while calling on GOP lawmakers to oppose it.

(732 posts)Musk now owns the GOP and the presidency.
Too late for the GOP to grow a pair; and the US lives with the consequences.

You don't get ahead in the Republican Party by standing up for what is right and moral. The only principle they care about is to take as much money and power as they can.

(7,186 posts)Their greed is his biggest weapon. If they choose to let him call the shots, he will be the first unelected ruler of the United States of America.
Trump's only chance is to use the power of his office to stop him. Trump will control the DOJ, the US marshals, and the military when he's sworn in. Unfortunately, he won't control the Congress or the Supreme Court, if Musk puts enough money on the table.
I know this sounds pretty wild, but Musk has delusions of grandeur. He also a flaming fascist, and believes he can run the whole show from behind the scenes with Vance, or some other pliable person as a figurehead president.
He has no use for Trump, and won't be his toady.
I really think Musk is more dangerous than Trump.
