Without specifying where it got the information, Der Spiegel also said the suspect was a fan of Elon Musk. "The entrepreneur Elon Musk, who is increasingly openly expressing his sympathies for right-wing parties, was probably one of his role models," said the publication, according to a translation.
The suspect, according to Der Spiegel said: "What Musk says, what Alex Jones says, or anyone who is labeled a radical or a right-wing extremist by mainstream mediathey're telling the truth."

It's Newsweek, but they are taking this information from Der Spiegel. Is Der Spiegel considered an accurate source of information?
This would not surprise me. This far-right dangerous mindset is spreading world-wide.

(123,556 posts)Der Spiegel is known in German-speaking countries mostly for its investigative journalism. It has played a key role in uncovering many political scandals such as the Spiegel affair in 1962 and the Flick affair in the 1980s. According to The Economist, Der Spiegel is one of continental Europe's most influential magazines. The news website by the same name was launched in 1994 under the name Spiegel Online with an independent editorial staff. Today, the content is created by a shared editorial team and the website uses the same media brand as the printed magazine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_Spiegel

(32,715 posts)Believing that anything those two assclowns have to say resembles anything remotely close to the truth/reality should be an automatic qualifier for involuntary commitment to a mental institution until such time as it can be determined that the individual in question is no longer a threat to themselves, AND, more importantly, no longer a threat to others and society. Seriously, that type of thinking (oxymoron, I know) is a mental illness.
That this comes on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II - and in light of the rise of rightwing groups & fascists - makes this event in Magdeburg, even more tragic.
For those not familiar with Magdeburg, in World War II, the city was the location of 30 forced labour detachments of the Stalag XI-A prisoner-of-war camp for approximately 4500 Allied POWs, the site of a concentration camp for the Sinti and Romani minorities as well as three of Buchenwalds subcamps.

(32,715 posts)We can only say with certainty that the perpetrator was obviously Islamophobic, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser told reporters.
A possible motive was Abdulmohsens dissatisfaction with how Saudi refugees were treated in Germany, said Horst Walter Nopens, Magdeburgs chief prosecutor.

The MPs will investigate the consequences of generative AI, which was used in widely shared images posted on Facebook and X inciting people to join Islamophobic protests after the killing of three schoolgirls in Southport in August. They will also investigate Silicon Valley business models that encourage the spread of content that can mislead and harm.
