(64,735 posts)Musk thinks he's the smartest person in the world. He thinks he's unstoppable, and he'll soon be the wealthiest (known) person in the world. However, I don't think he's really that smart. He's audacious and he's lucky.
Maybe he'll go too far and it will crash down on him.

(64,735 posts)I don't know if they still do it. Mostly for fun, they tried to figure out from historical records, what caused the deaths of famous people. One year they'd do Alexander the Great, etc.
I was fascinated by their analysis of George Custer. They decided he might have had Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Contemporary records talked about his flamboyant dress, he's egotistical behavior, and his tendency to do reckless things. He ordered his men into a crazy situation that was doomed to fail, because he was convinced he couldn't be wrong. Apparently he'd done it before, but it finally caught up to him.

Yes for sure Don Jr and Guifoyle are serious coke addicts.
Every video I see of them, they are high as kites.
I suspect RFKjr may still be using something.
Don't forget the steroid abusers like MTG.
When the WH drug list during Trump's presidency was released, my eyes popped out of my head.
I was astounded at the drug list, the huge amount of controlled substances handed out like candy.
I also noted that quite a few of the drugs being handed out could be used as date rape drugs.

(24,766 posts)It's as if they deny, even to themselves, their own need for drugs, and express that denial by attacking others who use drugs.
Maybe they believe that their money separates them from the street user. It's like saying, "I'm not like those losers. I'm important and powerful. Drugs are just fun for me, but the losers are hooked on them."
It's like an alcoholic businessman who uses his business dinners and parties as cover for drinking. He sees himself as a social drinker and despises the destitute guy on the street corner begging for money to buy a bottle of cheap wine.
They have the same problem. Only money separates them. But the one with money detaches himself/herself from the poorer user through projection and contempt.

(24,766 posts)I thought that his childhood religious experience was Fundamentalist Protestant and he converted to Catholicism later.
I have known a couple of gay men who tried to conform to religious expectations on sexuality. One of them was a guy that I'll call "Joe." I knew Joe decades ago, back when I was 18. My then boyfriend and I double dated with him and his girlfriend, both of whom were Catholic. My boyfriend told me once that he thought that Joe might be gay because he seemed indifferent to women when other guys talked about them. I shrugged it off as idle gossip.
Decades later, after moving out of state, I encountered Joe when in my home town visiting relatives. He was openly gay, had a husband, and was well established and respected as a ranking member of the police department.
The other closet gay is someone that I knew as a co-worker years ago. He was a religious fundamentalist who seemed miserable in his marriage. He was misogynistic toward his wife and other women, maybe out of resentment for feeling pressured into a way of life that he didn't like? I don't know. The marriage ended when he found a boyfriend and skipped town.
Vance reminds me of the guy in that second couple, except that Vance doubles down on the religion and misogynistic attitudes toward women.

(59,689 posts)Then you ask the question you just posed.
What ideas do you have as you read what people are posting about Musk's weak areas?
wnylib
(24,766 posts)From what I do know, he seems to be as narcissistic as Trump. A younger, wealthier version of him.
I don't think that Musk acts alone. I think that he has the backing of other wealthy supporters of the MAGA movement and that they are more politically astute than he is. That might include Putin.
Trump is too senile to be of much use. Vance can't pull in a following. So Musk appears to the one chosen to replace Trump.
Irish_Dem
(59,689 posts)If you look at the weaknesses, do any thoughts come to you about strategy?
Yes Musk is a narcissistic sociopath like Trump.
A bit smarter, he was able to use his skills to make money.
Yes he is obviously working with Putin and probably other fascist leaders.
South Africa is part of BRICK, the organization which wants to bring down the US.
We can assume other billionaire oligarchs are in contact with Musk.
Yes very good point. Musk is the new point man.
Trump is on the wane, sick and senile.
No one likes Vance.
Musk it is. No need to run in an election, just have the GOP appoint him to high office.
wnylib
(24,766 posts)Musk/Trump demands to remove the debt ceiling shows a Musk weakness. The large number of Republicans who voted against the Musk/Trump version and their outspokeness in opposing it suggests that Musk does not yet have their support. I suspect some resentment over a "foreigner" telling them what to do.
We could use that by continuing to hammer Musk with labels of unelected, not a natural born citizen, and not eligible to be president - or to play at being president.
We could use the MAGA xenophobia about foreigners to undercut Musk with them and with MAGA followers.
Keep trolling Trump and Musk with the
President Musk label and we can hit two fascist narcissists with one stone.
Add more labels and shade between now and January 20 to undercut Musk before the new regime takes over. The labels should be the kind that undermine Musk with MAGAs so that they refuse to follow him.

Musk is not just a foreigner, he is an unelected foreigner.
Ordering sitting MOCs around like they are his Tesla staff.
I think you are right. Use their own tactics of "the other" against them.
Musk is foreign, unelected, acting as POTUS when he is not even eligible to run for that office.
Plus he is obnoxious and unlikeable.
Yes another advantage of your plan is that it will hit Trump's narcissism big time.
There is only one star of the show, and it is Trump.
Of course I don't know how intact Trump is right now.
It is almost like there is a power vacuum and Musk took himself into the power center.
wnylib
(24,766 posts)or he is being put forward by people who want him to replace the mentally declining Trump.
Either way, we could undermine Musk by labelling him in ways that feed the MAGA rejection of him and promote disunity among MAGAs.

(7,584 posts)Nationalize his StarLink and Space Program. Take the contracts away, federalize his employees, and MOVE ON. And remove ALL security clearances. He's an arrogant prick who thinks he owns people. Show him that he DOES have a boss. Musk didn't INVENT anything. He's an INVESTOR, not a creator. He's crazy too. It's evident in his "quest" to colonize Mars. Who the fuck wants to live on Mars? It's a deeply frozen desert. The entire planet. Humans can't take care of their own planet, and we want to ruin another one? I'd much prefer that, if Musk persists, he should be the first inhabitant on that frozen dust ball, with enough fuel for 2 months of travel on the way back.

(17,366 posts)I'm actually still pondering this myself. I need to know more before making a blanket statement that he is a terrible father. He seems incredibly angry that he has a transgender daughter. She has estranged him. He goes the extra mile to be cruel to trans people. His desire to put his ex wife (wives?) and his massive number of children all together on a specially built compound is very bizarre--it is almost like a physical Non Disclosure Agreement. He wants that aspect of his life kept quiet. I think having a daughter beyond his control drives him crazy. (I think his daughter may have moved to another country).
Something about that. He needs to control everything. He is thin=skinned and hates criticism.
More than his drug abuse or mental health, I think we should zero in on his perception of himself as a father.
But that is just my tentative theory. Maybe he will do something today that pushes us in a different direction.
Really smart, good question. Years ago I had wanted to approach Trump from his angle.

Wilson told NBC News that the anecdotes arent true, though she said she did act stereotypically feminine in other ways as a child."

He depends on others to actually do the work. However, he is not loyal to those he hires to do that work. That will lead to many problems for him down the road.
He has no established personal ethics. Those change from day to day to suit whatever mood he is in. And, since he consumes who knows what psychoactive drugs, what suits him on any particular day varies.
Inconsistence is his Achilles heel. It's going to bite him on the ass. Probably via Trump getting angry with the man for outshining Trump, whose shine is quite tarnished and dull.

But it will not change the reality that no one likes him at all.

The original lie to the U.S. State Dept, and his actions thereafter, reveal Musk as a national security threat due to his contracts and foreign contacts. The U.S. should officially take action against Musk.
In the name of national security, The current U.S. Department of State should permanently revoke Elon Musk's citizenship and U.S. passport due to the fact of his lying on his application about the fact of his undocumented status;
-- thus, the U.S. Treasury permanently ban Musk from conducting business with the U.S. and its allies;
-- thus, all of Musk's government contracts can be headed by his chief engineers, who'll assume agency to fulfill said contracts;
-- thus, deported from the U.S. as a threat to U.S. national security because of a provable pattern of contacts with Vladimir Putin, declared an international criminal by the International Criminal Court under the Rome Statute.

(38,871 posts)The claim abut "rich, powerful white males" being exempt from US laws leaves We The People with no legal recourse through our government to end the rule of men that Musk has brought to this government.
If we nihilistically believe that "rich, powerful white males are exempt from US laws, rules and customs," then we capitulate to their power and deny our own. Knowing everything said here -- his personal flaws and mental state? -- that and a bus token will get us across town. That's it.

(59,689 posts)Yes, you are right. There is no reason to have this discussion with the power structure, the US government or anyone
in the three branches of gov't. They have utterly failed to do their jobs.
But as you can see, I am did not post my question or comments to anyone in those groups.
I am talking to We The People, the members of this forum.
I still believe in We The People.
My family was a military family and risked their lives for everyday Americans and their rights.
My family never lost hope in them, and I am still believe in the power of the people.

(38,871 posts)Whether we agree ...
that the power of the people is the power of their hope and strength is greater than "rich, powerful white males are exempt from US laws, rules and customs."
And whether we don't agree ...
that there is still a path for the U.S. military and Dept. of State, if they choose to treat him as a security threat, no matter how rich & powerful others think he is.

(59,689 posts)I will believe it when I see it.
There are tons of evidentiary cause to prosecute and jail Trump.
But we saw what happened there.
But I hope you are right and I am wrong.
ancianita
(38,871 posts)that's gone wrong is not because of evidence. It's because of the judicial system
-- court scheduling after filed indictments;
-- courts allowing abuse of due process because of fluff motions;
-- abuse of the appeals process -- that for at least a year kept trump from having to stand trial that would have taken -- under the "speedy trial" clause of the constitution -- no more than five weeks, tops, according to Smith. No matter if Garland had filed indictments the day he was sworn in, the same judicial system would have delayed the two federal cases, and the same SCOTUS would have delayed its rulings.
Lawyers on MSNBC have stated this and cited similar cases that have taken 4+ years to come to trial. And everyone in the legal world knows this.
Biden knows this.
Judicial reform, if we the people ever get a shot at it, will need serious clock-ticking deadlines for justice for the people over due process for the rich.

(17,032 posts)Musk is a seriously flawed individual. Not as smart as he portrays himself to be and that people think, mentally unstable, drug user, insecure and physically unattractive.
He is very arrogant and narcissistic and believes himself to be the smartest person in the Universe and seeks power and control without boundary.
His "financial worth" is where his power source lies. He also has many weaknesses that he tries to hide (some listed above) and he appears to be getting more and more out of control.
He is a modern era Caligula and when he reaches his absolute worst - he will bottom out. It may not be one specific issue or weakness but rather it will be the combination of them all.
There are many that will be happy to stab him in the back in the end and take him down. Donny being one of them.

(2,203 posts)Hes just covered his tracks better than most, since we really never got to see the blackmail list from Jeffs pedo island. Elon is always way too quick to accuse others of child sexual abuse, just like he did with the rescuer of those kids in a cave in Thailand.
With these guys, every accusation is either a confession or a projection.
Irish_Dem
(59,689 posts)I see that as a possible red flag.
What is he hiding?
Nothing would surprise me.
Narcissistic sociopath who is a drug addict.
Vastly rich, he is used to getting whatever he wants.
And many in Trump's orbit are rapists.
So it fits.

(59,689 posts)She recently appeared on American TV and told Americans they should have children whether they can afford them or not.
Lectured people on how to cut back on expenses while her husband and son are quite wealthy.
She does not appear to be embarrassed at all by her son's bad behavior and drug addiction.
Elon was raised in South Africa, the son of a wealthy businessman. South Africa has a culture of white supremacy.
Elon's father is a controversial figure. He fathered two children with his step daughter.

(3,719 posts)A lot of his early business success mirrors people who had early luck gambling. Even though Elon is capable of understanding the odds (unlike TFG, who I think can't do math at all and trusts "his gut" over numbers) Elon no longer realistically believes that he will lose. The longer that luck holds the worse it will be for him when it fails. There are signs he is already pushing way beyond his limits even as the world's financially richest man in his manipulations of politics and statecraft. He is impulsive and not at all prepared for the war he is picking with people who may not be able to match his raw resources, but are much craftier and more experienced than he is. He is riding high right moment but I think he's forgotten that he has no political power at all. Once TFG crashes (which at this rate may be before the inauguration) he is going to be exposed bare-assed to the wind he has stirred up, and he's going to find out there are some things even his money can't buy.

(59,689 posts)Yes he is a spoiled nepo baby with good luck and some ideas.

He's reportedly concerned enough about being offed that he's employing a constant security presence.
I don't know if that extends to a brigade of tasters and/or testers of his supplies, but he's one oops overdose or tainted batch away from pushing up sunflowers.

(59,689 posts)He thinks he is the smartest person in the room, or probably the world.
He lucked out bilking the US gov't with his projects and got very rich.
He equates that with being brilliant.

He also thought his threats would work. He very much misread the room.
