Big Lots - to hold going out of business sales.

‘Difficult decision’: Big Lots is preparing ‘going out of business’ sales at all remaining stores

In a news release Thursday, the retailer announced that its anticipated sale to Nexus Capital Management fell through.

In response, Big Lots said it is preparing to host “going out of business” sales at all remaining stores.

Big Lots said its goal is to complete a sale by early January.

“While we remain hopeful that we can close an alternative going concern transaction, in order to protect the value of the Big Lots estate, we have made the difficult decision to begin the GOB [‘going out of business’] process,” said Bruce Thorn, Big Lots' President and Chief Executive Officer.

...can really hurt the lives of the people who work for them, those corporations should be held responsible for substabtial severence packages when they let workers go in order to protect their profits.

They are a scam. I ordered something from them and they sent half my order, with someone else's packing slip in the box. Sure, they had a tracking number that proved they delivered a package to my house. They never sent an email receipt and I didn't print the order page. Without a receipt, I'd have been able to return the half-order to the store, but at the current sale price. Presumably the person whose order I got thought they hit pay dirt when they got a double order.

Customer Support was an absolute joke. Every time I called, I had to explain at least 3 times what it meant to get someone else's packing slip and only half my order. They didn't have a clue how to fix it. I asked for supervisors, who were at least as clueless as the original agents. They refused to send the other half of the order, as they had no mechanism for making it right. They just wanted me to go away.

It took months to get it straightened out, and my credit card company did most of the work. I vowed then never to spend another dime at Big Lots, and I have not. Maybe they're fine if you don't have a problem, but they show their real colors when there is a problem. Not surprised they can't hold it together.

red sofa there when I had to furnish a rental house to spend half the year close to my Alz mom when she had to go into Assisted Living on the opposite coast. When she died, I wanted to ship it home along with other things hut didn’t have a place for it and dismissed as ridiculous for a $300 sofa.

Regret it! Miss that sofa!

RIP Big lots.

looking for a calendar. There were none, and other items that I looked for weren't restocked. There were empty shelves and things were moved around to disguise the fact.

It wasn't on the chopping block. It's in a former Kmart.

I bought some stocking stuffers.
