My Cousin's health insurance premium just passed $1000/mo!

He is self-employed and in good health. These health insurance companies are thieves! His property tax just increased on both home and business. Dental and vison are also going up. He's close to retiring but feels the need to work a bit more to cover these added expenses. He makes a good living and can absorb the cost but hates it. How are people near the bottom coping?

Sounds tacky? Not thought out? I suggest it encapsulates today in America. Trumps America where your Cousins contributions to our Country are irrelevant to his and their future.

If he is near Medicare age, that will make a big difference. We need a complete overhaul of our system, but with our worship of capitalism, I don't see it happening.

Is now over $2000 a month. Per person deductibles are $8050. Not eligible
for any tax credits or assistance. It’s highway robbery and so so frustrating.

She wanted six months off and for my income to pay the family expenses. Health insurance was $10,000 a year. We couldn’t afford it on my one salary and she had to return to work in only a couple of months.

While the ACA has been a godsend, it’s obvious the lack of a public option has ensured health insurance premiums will still be insane.
