He is self-employed and in good health. These health insurance companies are thieves! His property tax just increased on both home and business. Dental and vison are also going up. He's close to retiring but feels the need to work a bit more to cover these added expenses. He makes a good living and can absorb the cost but hates it. How are people near the bottom coping?

(8,545 posts)If he is near Medicare age, that will make a big difference. We need a complete overhaul of our system, but with our worship of capitalism, I don't see it happening.

for any tax credits or assistance. Its highway robbery and so so frustrating.

(553 posts)She wanted six months off and for my income to pay the family expenses. Health insurance was $10,000 a year. We couldnt afford it on my one salary and she had to return to work in only a couple of months.
