60 Minutes, 2021 - UFOs regularly spotted in restricted U.S. airspace, report on the phenomena due next month

UFOs regularly spotted in restricted U.S. airspace, report on the phenomena due next month

We have tackled many strange stories on 60 Minutes, but perhaps none like this. It's the story of the U.S. government's grudging acknowledgment of unidentified aerial phenomena— UAP—more commonly known as UFOs. After decades of public denial the Pentagon now admits there's something out there, and the U.S. Senate wants to know what it is. The intelligence committee has ordered the director of national intelligence and the secretary of defense to deliver a report on the mysterious sightings by next month.

Bill Whitaker: So what you are telling me is that UFOs, unidentified flying objects, are real?

Lue Elizondo: Bill, I think we're beyond that already. The government has already stated for the record that they're real. I'm not telling you that. The United States government is telling you that.

Luis Elizondo spent 20 years running military intelligence operations worldwide: in Afghanistan, the Middle East and Guantanamo. He hadn't given UFOs a second thought until 2008. That's when he was asked to join something at the Pentagon called the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, or "AATIP."

-snip-

Lue Elizondo: Imagine a technology that can do 6-to-700 g-forces, that can fly at 13,000 miles an hour, that can evade radar and that can fly through air and water and possibly space. And oh, by the way, has no obvious signs of propulsion, no wings, no control surfaces and yet still can defy the natural effects of Earth's gravity. That's precisely what we're seeing.

Read the article. It gets better.

witnessed several of these sightings on Coast to Coast AM. I remember not moving for the entire thing. I didn't want to breathe too loud and not hear a syllable.

Waiting for the usual skeptics telling me that there’s absolutely no evidence and they’ll talk when one crashes in Times Square.

Coast to Coast will someday be redeemed from the ridicule heaped upon it.

I thought after the Pentagon released the cockpit videos, and the NYT put it on the front page, and the pilots were allowed to talk about their experiences publicly, plus the more technical admissions by people in defense about the capabilities of these vehicles, that at least the skeptics would be interested enough to try to learn more, or just keep it to themselves, rather than continue with that strategy of ridiculing people who ARE fascinated by all of this.

Everything changed in 2021.

Anyway, glad you're here at DU. It's so refreshing to see intelligent, informed discussions of this--something I never could have imagined on DU 10, 15 years ago.

There is no question that there is a concerted effort to squelch this material. It is as obvious as the coverup of the Kennedy assassination as it happened and is even more obviously ridiculous.

along the Oregon coast a couple days ago. I was listening to ATC talk to many different pilots all witnessing a red orb traveling at what they described as supersonic or hypersonic speeds and as high as 50,000-60,000 feet. This wasn’t a drone. Pilots kept calling into towers asking if the object was on their radar and it was not. It was fascinating to listen to what they were experiencing.

were at during this encounter. I don't know what they saw, but it doesn't sound like satellites. The object that showed up on TCAS was probably the Alaska Air flight.

Sorry about that

I don't believe they were satellites since when does a satellite move in a circular or corkscrew pattern?

Something the head of MUFON complained about, everybody and their Mother now carries around a high-quality video or still camera. (Cell phone)

Yet, the only stills or video are of hoaxes, fakes, or fuzzy blobs of light.

Just like it was back in the UFO craze years, especially in the 70's.

And "Coast To Coast AM" is to flying saucers, Bigfoot, and ghosts what Rush Limbaugh was to politics.

That's why the pics are always fuzzy.

You could have a I-grok-UFOs psychological breakthrough if you'd just employ fuzzy logic.
