Police say that a Harwich woman and another person, an off-duty Harwich police officer, reported seeing unmanned aerial vehicles -- drones -- in the skies over town Thursday. The sightings seem to coincide with similar sightings around the Northeast in recent weeks.
The woman told police she went outdoors at around 9 p.m. and saw between 10 and 15 drones in the sky; they made no noise but were equipped with bright lights, and remained in the area for over an hour.
"That same night around 6 p.m., an off-duty Harwich officer also noticed similar drone activity near the Public Safety Complex on Sisson Road," a Harwich Police news release reads.
In mid-November, a series of drone sightings were reported in New Jersey, followed by similar reports in New York and Connecticut. Federal officials are investigating, but the White House has stated that many of the reported drone sightings are likely misidentified manned aircraft. They also emphasize that there's no evidence to suggest these sightings pose a national security or public safety threat, or have a foreign nexus.

There is a Space Force Base in Bourne, Cape Cod. Not too far away.

There are many people who own expensive drones equipped with cameras and GPS that can do all the things we're hearing about.
